Word reached Carter Tuesday of the death of Clifford HINDMAN,son of Mr.and
Mrs.C.E.HINDMAN,who was attending college at Wichita Falls,Texas.

Clifford was a 20 year old Junior college football player and was paying
his way through college by working on the fire department and the college
cafeteria.Early Tuesday morning he and two others were called to extingguish
a burning automobile.At a low place in the pavement where water stood,the
truck skidded,struck the curbstone and turned over.The other two youths
were thrown clear of the truck while Mr.HINDMAN was caught beneath it.He
was dead when aid reached the fire truck.The body was shipped back here
for burial.

Besides his parents he is survived by a sister,Miss Sadie Belle HINDMAN;an
Aunt,Mrs.L.A.HACKER of Vernon;and five cousins,Jim JACKSON of Carter,Mrs.Carter
HOWARD of Wichita Falls and Mrs. J.V. RAMSEY,Chris HACKER and Dan HACKER,all
of Vernon,Texas.

VERNON GRADUATE*Hindman was a graduate in the 1929 class of the Vernon
High School.He entered the junior college at Wichita Falls as a freshman
last fall.He played tackle on the Indian squad and center on the basketball
team.Coach E.A.BAGGETT,with whom the young man had been intimately connected
in his athletic activities,accompanied the body here for the funeral services
which were held at the Carter cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

CARD OF THANKS* We wish to try to express our Thanks to our many friends
and relatives for their many acts of kindness in this,the darkest day of
our lives,in the death of our son,Clifford,who went to his death in line
of duty So brave and unafraid as a fireman at Wichita Falls,Texas atipification
of all of his life deeds,never knowing fear where the Y?t the loving kindness
of our friend is balm to our breaking hearts and in time it may partly
heal the wounds and give us strength to go on to the end which won't be
long.
