Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, 07-Nov-2000 at the Bethel
Baptist Church of Anadarko for Jackie Lee Spray, 58, of Anadarko. Spray
died Sunday, 05-Nov-2000 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Grady
county, Ok. after a year long battle with cancer. Officiating at the service
was the Rev. Don Wright, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church of Cyril.
Burial was in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the
Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko.
Spray was born 20-Sep-1942 in Atoka, Atoka county, Ok. to Otis and Lillie
Mae (Parham) Spray. He married the former Margaret Elaine Mears 08-Jul-1966
in Anadarko. He moved to Anadarko with his parents in 1943. He graduated
from Anadarko High School and served four years in the United States Army,
stationed in Germany. For 32 years he enjoyed owning his own business,
Spray's Ditching Inc., for which he was well known throughout the area.
He was an honest, kindhearted man who would do anything for anyone. His
hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Midway Baptist
Church.
Preceding him in death was his mother and two brothers, John Wayne Spray
and Quillie Spray. Survivors include his wife of the home; his father;
three daughters, sons-in-law and their children: Brenda and Jim Smith and
their children, James and Zachary of Anchorage, Alaska, Lori and Mike Wenninger
and their children, Bobbie, Jimi, Matt and Austin, all of Anadarko, and
Christy and Steve Boucher and their children, Dusty, Paige, Saige, Nina
and Brandon, all of Anadarko; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda
and Jim Weeks of Anadarko, and Helen Cossey of Yukon, Ok.; one sister-in-law,
Lahoma Spray of Anadarko; mother-in-law, Annis Mears of Mountain View,
Ok., as well as a host of family and friends.

CITY BUSINESS OWNER DIES, SERVICES SLATED
Services for Jackie Spray, 58, of Anadarko will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday
at the Bethel Baptist Church of Anadarko.
Spray owned and operated Spray's Backhoe Service in Anadarko. Spray began
working with his father, Otis, in the business (in) 1967 and then contracted
with Southwestern Bell, burying the phone company's underground cable in
1972.
He bought the business from his father in 1976 and sold the operation to
his son-in-law, Mike Wenninger, in February and continued to work with
Mike until a few weeks ago.
Spray had lived in Anadarko since 1943. He was a graduate of Anadarko High
School and served four years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.
Burial will be in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of
the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko.
