Halito All:
It was recommended that I try this information on
this site. The Harper family seems to have been from
Mississippi and Louisiana. However, I believe some
migrated to Arkansas and Oklahoma. Of course many were
rejected by the infamous col. William Ward when they
applied for their scrip.
I do also have a listing of more surnames which I
will post under a different posting. These should be
almost everyone from my family who attempted
enrollment under the "Dawes Act".
The visits my g-parents made would have been late
1800s or early 1900s. I know it's a long-shot but some
family of the same surnames might continue to visit or
stay in touch in some way.
I would very much like to connect with
descendants of the families my g-grandparents used to
visit.
Sincerely:
Imafo

Halito All:
I have discovered that my g-grandparents used to
take the family to the Choctaw reservation to visit
family. Their names were: H. S. (Hannibal or Hamilton?
Sanders) known as Sanders McNabb (McNab, McKnab
McKnabb)and Elizabeth "Betsie" Hanks McNabb.
Children:
James Harvey, Mary E., Louisa E., Isaac W., Robert,
Sarah F., William F., Fielding, Arminnia, Elizabeth,
Evalena (Lena)
Sanders Mcnabb was the son of Isaac and
Elizabeth_____? Mcnabb.
Elizabeth "Betsie" Hanks McNabb, my g-grandmother was
the daughter of William Hanks and Louisa possibly
Elizabeth Louisa Hall. William Hanks was the son of
Fielding Hanks and Lydia Harper Hanks (daughter of
John and Mary Ann _____? Harper and first born in
Boonesborough).
I have listed the above mentioned surnames as clues
for anyone who might recognize this story. I have also
listed surnames on this sight 07/13/02, which is a
more comprehensive listing of surnames in my family
attempting enrollment in the Choctaw Nation under the
"Dawes Act".
If anyone recognizes this story, please contact me on
this sight or on my email.
