My great uncles Benjamin Solomon Harris "Cap" Mitchell and Elza Leon "Lon"
Mitchell founded a newspaper called The Canadian Valley Echo.
E. L. Mitchell was born in MO. He came to Day County in 1900 and with his
brother Dick published the Canadian Valley Echo. E. L. Mitchell studied law
and practiced law in Cheyenne. He went to Clinton in 1916 and represented
the Second Senatorial District in the State Legislature several times.
E. L. Mitchell married 1 May 1904 in Day Co OK Ethel Madden. He is listed in
Who's Who in OK - 1935 from Pottawatomie County.
Richard A. Mitchell married 19 Jun 1903 in Day Co OK Mable L. Sealock.
Benjamin Solomon Harris "Cap" Mitchell died 24 Dec 1890 in Clinton OK.
Their is supposed to be a Cherokee ancestor but I have not been able to
confirm her.
