Don't give up. Who was your Mary Davis married to, what was her age, etc? I
had and still have Davis families in Marlowe.
Check the Chickasaw Nation cesus, I found alot of information there.

Hi Jean: I realized when I checked my post that I had forgotten to include
important info such as date, etc. OK...Holiday Head strikes again!
My Mary Davis was born Feb 8, 1825 in Missouri, died Feb 28, 1884 in Kingston,
Madison Co., Arkansas. She wed John Cecil, one time Sheriff and Confederate
"Raider" in Arkansas, Oct 2, 1845. Don't know where....and unfortunately the
records from the 1820s, etc. in that region are pretty skimpy! I don't know
names of her parents, which makes checking and verifying a Davis connection
Veerry difficult unless I have some family data. It is possible that she had
sisters Drucilla, Lelia and Sarah... These females are listed in the 1850
census with the household and I have no idea who these gals were. They are
not listed in the 1860 census household. It is dimly possible that Mary's
father might have been named Martin, as one of her sons was named Martin and
this is not a Cecil family name. This is very scanty evidence!
Anyway, thank you for your encouragement! John and Mary's son William Hiram
Cecil left Arkansas about 1900 or so and went to Nocona, Texas for a
time...ended up in Garvin County. William's son Joseph Walter wed Leanna
Garvin. William's other children wed into the Vandiver, Reaves, Conklin
families in Oklahoma.
Thanks again! Penny
