Those that have decided how to handle their queries are probably tired
of the traffic --- but some still have questions and are holding off
to see the New Querybot.
So.... Here's more information about the Querybot from Patty Lindsay who
is a part of the team working on the NEW Querybot at the National level.
As Megan said earlier "Query committee's system [New Querybot] is in
the testing stage....I don't know exactly when it will be online, but
sounds like soon."
As previously stated -- it's your decision which system you choose for
the queries -- long as you keep them posted. :)

For clarification purposes only, I'm not trying to talk anyone into using,
but there is a big misperception here I wanted to straighten out.
The new query system was written based on feedback from many ccs. It is
in no way shape or form anywhere near the old autobot.
What is it?
Imagine taking the mailmerge process, like Sue Skay or Michael Hebert have
setup, or that I setup in CCHelper Central, tailoring it to the USGenWeb
query process and making it available to any CC that wants to use it.
That's all it is. It's not a huge system that sucks up your queries and
spits them out whenever it feels like it.
Just like in the mailmerge system, you have control over the form. You
maintain it, it's sits on your server, it's linked to by your page - and
that's it, no other way to submit queries to your county except from
pages that you control.
It's just a mailmerge system that makes it easy to set up and gives you
some different options for having your queries sent to you. Note the YOU.
No one or no system gets the queries first. They are sent to you directly
or put on a Web page. If you use the Web page option, you are the one that
resets the page, you don't have to send e-mail to someone else to do it
and wait for it to happen. The only Web pages in the system besides the
one that sits on your server, are help pages and the Surname Helper
registration Web pages.
I hope I've gotten the message across. Please remember that everyone
involved in the creation of this system did not want to recreate another
Autobot monster.
Most of you have something set up and running for queries, so there's no
real need to jump to this system. I did want to make it clear what this
new system is so that you would keep an open mind to it and not turn
someone off to it that is not happy with what they are currently using.
Getting off my soapbox,~
Patty

Have you BACKED UP your CCHelper data recently? You can easily backup
your CCHelper data by copying the file cchelper.db in your CCH1 directory
to another directory, or even better another disk or even better than
that to external media (like tape or a zip drive).
