Each person of the correct age to serve in WWI was required to sign up for
the draft. These draft cards are located at the Nation Archives branch in
North Point GA. They are in order by: State, DISTRICT and then alpha by
last name. The cards contain the man's name, current address and other
personal info. No parents, etc., just personal info on the man himself.
To get a copy of the card you must know the state and at least the county
or town. Ancestry has these on-line to search but you need to be aware
that some are missing. I was at the Archives while the LDS was filming
these cards and let me tell you they check, recheck and double check their
films. I've never been so impressed with the thoroughness of anyone!

In searching the Ancestry listing I could not come up with 5 of my
ancestors although I have copies of their cards from the archives. So
simply be forewarned that if you can't find them on Ancestry doesn't mean
they are not there.

You can obtain a copy of the card by writing to:

Friends of the National Archives
Southeast Region
1557 St. Joseph Avenue
East Point, GA 30344

Include all the information you can about your ancestor to help them find
the correct card.

Good Luck

Linda
