As many of you know, for over 75 years the OHS has recorded much of the
states history (including Indian Territory) in the Chronicles of Oklahoma.
It is often overlooked when doing research on our ancestors, especially by
those just beginning their search. Articles are varied, but "of the more
than 1,800 articles written, approx. 38% concern Indians; of these, two out
of three focus on the Five Tribes. More than forty articles relate to
Choctaw education alone." (As quoted from the Preface, p ix, "An Annotated
Guide to The Chronicles of Oklahoma 1921-1994" by Carol Welsh, Oklahoma
Historical Society: Oklahoma City, 1996)
I recently purchased this guide and am willing to do lookups. Remember, IT
IS JUST A GUIDE! It will tell you in which issue the article you're
interested in appears. It is up to you to obtain the article as I have only
3 back issues. (I previously posted an index to the issues I have.) If you
request a lookup, please put "GUIDE" on your subject line and the surname,
subject, etc. in the body of your email. Thanks, Jeanne
