Subject: [OKGEN-L] TWO DIFFERENT NAMES FOR ONE FAMILY

I have quite a few names spelled in several different ways, the name
may have started out with one spelling and when they came to the USA
whom ever wrote their name wrote it the way they felt it was spelled.
My GGGGrandfather, William Cantwell born abt. 1790 had 14 children,
for
some
unknown reason two of them, a girl named Bobby and a boy named Stephen
changed their Surname to CANTRELL. Out of curiosity, I went into the
Cantrell list on GenForum today. I found postings from people
researching a
CANTRELL line showing much of the same names, dates and places I had
for
all
my CANTWELL information.
I have Richard CANTWELL coming from England in the late 1600's. They
have
the
same guy with the same wife and kids all the way down....except the
name is
