Dear List:
I was just thinking today to put my query here on this subject
too. I noticed the other answers, but mine is from a Document dated 1892,
for some cousins who were trying to get their citizenship in the Cherokee
tribe. It states, "Britain Barneses father was half breed Cherokee Indian
and his mother was a quaterroon of the Cherokee Tribe."
Has anyone heard of this "quaterroon" in reference to Indian ancestry
before? What do you guys all think?
Thanks in advance, you all are great!
