Message text written by Nita:
>Have a problem with reading an attachment sent a few days ago. I read it
the first day it was sent and tried to read it again yesterday. Now, the
attachment is a complete blank--only a gray area in the attachment area.
Tried reading another attachment sent the same day; it is also now a gray
area--these were genealogy attachments, not advertising, etc.
Any suggestions?<
I frequently run into a similar problem with attachments labeled
"mail.txt". This is clearly a default setting, but I don't know whether it
is a widely used one or just the name that Compurserve assigns to incoming
text attachments that don't conform to its standards.
To keep such an attachment, I must save it under a different name. I
normally copy them to my scratchpad and then past into a WP document. If I
don't do that before the next attachment comes in using the default name,
it's GONE!
I don't know that this is your problem. It might be worthwhile to check
the filenames of the problematic attachments against those received later,
although the evidence may be gone if the later message wasn't one you
thought worth saving.
