I am looking for information on Porter (born 1855 PA) and Mary MOSS (born 1848 OH) and sons, John MOSS (born 1879 OH) and Otha/Otto/Otis MOSS (born 1881 OH).

Porter and family came to OK poss. before 1900. His first wife was Elizabeth LARUE (born 1845 OH), by whom he had both sons, in OH. Elizabeth died in 1882.

In1900, Porter, his new wife Mary (born in OH) and the two boys are found on census on Osage Indian Reservation in Osage County. By this time, the oldest son John "Lennie" is shown to have married a woman named 'Looney'(?) which later looks like it could be the name Emma. It appears that John could have married her around 1899. This wife was born Jan 1883 (according to later census) in Missouri. By the 1910 census in Osage Co., OK, Tp25 R3 they are shown with children;Goldie b.abt 1901 in OK, Maud born abt 1903 in OK, Linn born abt 1908 in OK and at least one other child...name unknown who may have even died young.

On the 1910 census, Porter and Mary are again found in Osage Co., OK.

By this 1910 census, their second son Otha is also found in Osage County, and has married a woman named Maud____ born abt 1888 in Kansas. They have a son named Howard MOSS who was born abt. 1905 in OK according to the census.

I do not find the sons on the 1920 Osage soundex, but Porter is still in Osage County, in Avant (I believe this is Bearheart twp?). However, his wife, Mary, is no longer on the census (soundex) record. So, I assume that she has died between the 1910 and 1920 census. And that most likely she has died in Osage County.

I am trying to include this line, as descendants, in my extensive LaRue family tree, of over 1500 names, to date.

Can anyone help me locate this family? I am interested in the information on the death record for Mary MOSS. I am interested in whether Porter MOSS died in Osage county. I am also interested in whether the two sons stayed in Osage County, or whether they moved on to another location. If Porter and Mary died in Osage county, their death certifcate information and obituaries could prove invaluable aides in adding this information along with the sketchy information on them that I have already uncovered.

If there is anyone out there with ties are access in Osage County, I would really appreciate their help. I have had this information for years, and just cannot get any further. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have tried letters to courthouse (many years ago) and struck out with that avenue.
Whether there is nothing there, or an inadequate search, I do not know.

So I am hoping that someone can provide me with some aid.( *** there is an outside chance that MARY MOSS born in OH, may infact be Mary Melissa LARUE, who was Porters sister in law, the sister of his first wife Elizabeth LARUE, since the said Mary Melissa was said to have gone to OK with Porter and family. and I also believe that there had to have been some reason for this family to have gone to OK, land rushes? but then why on the Osage Indian Reservation?)

Any help welcome....and can help anyone who needs help in northern WI.
