Dear Oklahoma
I sure could use some help on tracing this Leola Neelson or Nelson.
Born Aug 12, 1886
Died June 1976 Brazoria County TX
Buried Wiggins Cemetery, Chambers County Texas
Married Aug 11, 1912 Rufus Elford Blackwell in Bowie county Texas
After the birth of 3 children Viola, Estella, and Robert F. Blackwell Leola
and Rufus divorced and she moved to Ada or Ardmore OK and married Frank
Baker and had 3 more sons, Cecil, Bob and Arvel/Orville Baker.
According to her 84 year old son Robert Blackwell his mother was 3/4 indian,
maybe Cherokee. It was thought that she returned to the reservation, but I
can't find anything that proves that. Maybe she just returned to Indian
Territory. Any ideas how I could find out.
I'm not sure where to start on this one and her son is excited that I am
looking for him.
At 84 I don't want to disappoint him or get him too excited if youknow what
I mean.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
