I can't help with those initials but can share that none of the northern states would title themselves Northern States of America due to President Lincoln. He believed that the South would eventually be brought back into the fold of the nation even during this whole outbreak of chaos or War. He refused to separate the nation in title even when the Confederate States started calling themselves just that [Confederate States] Lincoln would still call them misguided children of the nation.

TMR = Trans Mississippi Rifles or was it MTR = Mississippi Transitional Rifles ... I don't recall which verbiage is correct but do know that my Great-Great Grandfather registered with the Arkansas states first and later enlisted or transferred to the MTR near the end of the war. Initials like these are all over the South. I still haven't found NSA or it's meaning either.
