Try this URL Poteau is the county seat and is about as old as Ft. Smith .

Addie YORK - my Great-Great Grandmother, married John Thomas MITCHELL
sometime between the years of 1900 and 1905. At least, I hope they married
by legal ceremony and registration. Somehow, this family got lost in their
meandering around the two states of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

That's all I was told. There is no city, no district or territory indicated
through family conversation over a closer location than listed on this page.
