GUNTER, JOHN CLARK
Funeral services for John Clark GUNTER, 65, of Tulsa, were held at 2 p.m.,
Tuesday, at Agent Chapel in Sallisaw, with Mr. Charles Smith, Mr. P. Doug
Harvell and Mr. David Gunter officiating. Burial was in Sallisaw City
Cemetery, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mr. GUNTER
was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Redland to John E. GUNTER and Grace (CLARK)
GUNTER. he died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Tulsa. He was a 1955 graduate of
Gans High School, a graduate of Connors State College, a construction worker
and laborer and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one daughter,
Shanan LOOSCHEN of Austin, Texas; two sons, David GUNTER of Austin and Jeff
GUNTER of Dallas; three grandchildren, Fenoula GUNTER, Fergus GUNTER and
Samantha LOOSCHEN; his companion, Jacqueline GARDNER of the home; three
sisters, Ferne Van DUESEN of Tucson, Ariz., Rose FERGUSON of Houston and Ann
CRAWLEY of Tulsa;; one brother, George GUNTER of Claremore; and several
niece,nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were
Gary Gunter, A.E. "Sonny" Linker, Kenneth Bibb, Keith Votravis, P. Doug
Harvell and Jimmy Crosslin.

SHOFNER, CHARLES L.
Funeral services for Charles L. SHOFNER, 75, of Muldrow, were held at 2
p.m., Monday at Agent Chapel in Muldrow, with the Rev. Al Ruckman
officiating. Military Honors were provided by members of the American Legion
and supported by member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of
Foreign Wars. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow, under the
direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. SHOFNER was born Dec. 2,
1926, to Charley SHOFNER and Willard (PLANK) SHOFNER, in Redland. He died
Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Muldrow. A former route salesman with Fort Smith
Tobacco and Candy Company, he was of the Protestant religion. Mr. SHOFNER
married Almeda REESE in 1954 in Yuma, Ariz. She preceded him in death on
Jan. 28, 1998. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a U.S. Air force veteran of
the Korean War, he retired as dispatcher for the Muldrow Police Department
after 10 years. He and his wife, Almeda, operated Shofners Flowers in
Muldrow. Survivors include two sons, Jack SHOFNER and Jeff SHOFNER, both of
Muldrow; one step-son, Jennings OWENS of Muldrow; one step-daughter, Debbie
VAUGHAN of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
five sisters, Emma JORDAN and Edith PATTERSON, both of Muldrow, Betty
ROBERTS of Roland, Jane Kay JOHNSON of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Jennie
KREMERS of Scranton, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other
relatives and friends. Pallbearers were members of the Muldrow Police
Department. Honorary pallbearers were R.C. Perceful, Allen Ray Woodward and
Bruce Tabor. Mr. CLARK (SHOFNER) was preceded in death by two brothers,
Jerry Dale SHOFNER and Bud KING.
