My dad was born at Diamond Township, Haskell Co, Oklahoma. It's right there by Lequire. It's up a little ways from the church building going from Lequire to Stigler. At least that's what my dad pointed out to me where he was born. There is a town in Oklahoma called Vian. Have you tried a google search for the town? Try the advanced search.

Subject: Town Name
I have acopy of my grandfather's birth certificate and I need some
help reading the town name. Under Twonship it says what looks like
Viammd. The V could be a U or an N the second letter is almost
definetely and i the third letter coudl be and a or a u and the next 2
letters look like m and the the d could be a t. It is signed E.
Johnson but I don't knwo if that is the doctor's anem or the midwife.
The address is Kinta, Ok. The birth was in 1923. I have looked at
different Oklahoma maps and haven't found any town names near the
spelling. Grandpa always said he was born in Lequire or Stigler. Could
this mystery town be a local name for the area? Grandpa was born at
home and both parents lived in Lequire so I was kind of surprised to
see something other than Lequire listed for his birth place. Any help
finding this mystery town woudl be greatly appreciated.

Debbie,
I thought it might be Diamond but couldn't find it as a town listing.
Is Diamond near Lequire? I know what you mean about the bad
handwriting, I was able to figure out most of the birth certificate
because I already knew a lot about Grandpa's family. I've never been
to Oklahoma, all of my research has been online so far and some of the
smaller towns/villages seem to be missing. Is Diamond a real town?
Grandpa was born on the family farm so I wondered if maybe Diamond was
a name for a certain area outside of town or maybe the name of a small
village.

That is the same area my family was from, I always thought it was a
township, but am not sure of that and I thought it was in the San Bois area. Will
try to do some checking on it.
