Donna:
I could not find any listings for a Mariah/Meria LANE or GUNTER. The closest thing that I could find was the following family in the 1900 Oklahoma Territory census, Colume 1:
Birth Birth
DWL # NAME REL COL Month Year BP BPF BPM
191 GUNTER, Thomas H W May 1872 TX TN TN
Maudie W W Feb 1882 MS MS MS
Lelan D W Oct 1898 IT TX MS
O"BRINE, James BDR W Feb 1879 IT IA AR
Also, there is a listing in the Brazil Cemetery book for one Tom GUNTER, May 18, 1870 - Feb 12, 1914 and two identical entries for "Two Infants GUNTER, children of TE & ML"next to this Tom Gunter.
That is about all I could come up with.

Hi,
I am posting this post in the LeFlore County site as well as the Haskell County site.
My name is Donna Sue and I am trying to locate my great aunt Meria, Mariah Lane. She did not marry a "Hunter" as some have thought in the past. She married a "Gunter" and he was in the Indian Territory area.
Mariah is what we were told her name was but we may not be clear on the spelling. She was the daughter of Thomas J. and Sallie (James) Lane who lived in Arkansas then moved to the Star, OK. area. Their son, George W. Lane lived in Blaine and Sand Bois, Haskell County, OK. Mariah's sister, Margarette Jane Lane married David B. Blaylock and they lived in Tamaha.
There were not too many Gunter's in the area during the 1850-early 1900's. Mariah probably married in Arkansas around the Waldron, Sugarloaf Mtn, Mansfield area in the county of Sebastian or Scott. My grandfather William Henry "Bill" Lane was born in Indian Territory in 1901 and he and his wife Dorthy Davis, Lane spoke of Aunt Mariah often. They said that she moved to Indian Territory to where they lived and that they didn't like it too much so they went on west. Well, west could have been to Whitefield, Tamaha, or just about anywhere not knowing where the originating point was. Thomas J. Lane lived in the Star, Oklahoma area in and around the Blaine bottom area. Mariah had to still be alive in 1921 for Grandma Dorthy Davis to tell us that she knew her because she and Bill Lane married in 1921. Bill lived in Whoody, Ok. at the time of their marriage therefore they could have used Whoody as a starting point as well.
Are there any Gunter's doing genealogy that lists a Lane or a Gunter together and does anybody have any marriage records, funeral records, or anything at all on the Gunter families that was living in Indian Territory? I found some over around Tamaha but have no idea how to contact anybody that is doing their research.
Thanks to all,
Donna Sue
