Here is a really neat site regarding the Cherokee Tribes. Too bad my grandmother didn't enroll in the Dawes Rolls, but at the time, most people wouldn't admit to there Native American blood as it was a stigma.

My grandmother, Laura Emaline (Waldron) Franklin was 1/2 Cherokee and used to visit various people who were full-blood. A funny story was that she was visiting one tribe when her son, my Uncle Mack , was a baby. The cheif of that tribe thought Mack looked so much like a Native American boy that he wanted to adopt him. Grandma had to tell him no several times.
I sure wish I knew where she was visiting, because I think they were probably part of her mother's tribe.
