MARIETTA

Services for Dovie Gladys Treadwell, 101, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Christ Tabernacle Church with James Moffett officiating and the Ref. Ronnie Carroll delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 16, 1906, at Montague, Texas, to Andrew Jackson and Mary Ann Whisenhunt Harper, she died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at a Marietta hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, grandson Charles E. Treadwell, six sisters and two brothers.

A resident of Love County most of her life, she was a homemaker and had also been employed as a cook, working at the Hub Restaurant at Marietta for more than 20 years. Mrs. Treadwell loved to cook and that was her way of expressing love to family and friends.

She truly loved the Lord and taught her children the love of God. She loved everyone and was always willing to help others. Mrs. Treadwell attended Christ Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, C.E. "Chuck" and Gladys Treadwell, Marietta; three daughters, Pauline Reynolds, Ardmore, Marie Chester, Artesia, Calif., and Mary Christie, Marietta; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Bearers are Jerry McGill, David Kerr, Kenneth Gillaspy, Altus Gillaspy, Richard Quisenberry and Robert Hughes. Honorary bearers are the men of Christ Tabernacle Church. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at: www.wattsfuneralhome.com.
