Surname: MORRIS
-------------------------
Finally I received info on where Bert Willis Morris was born in Indian
Territory [from his Social Security Application in 1936] and he was born
in Woodville on 9 Sept 1885.
Bert's parents were William M. Morris and Josephine [Josephene] Burgess
and they were married c. 1865/68 somewhere in Missouri [Josephine was from
Lewis County]. In 1873 they probably moved to Grayson County where several
children were born and then sometime after the 1880 Census, they moved
to Indian Territory. I do not know how long they were in the area, but
one of Bert's brothers, Charles/Marion Morris died c. 1883 and it may have
been in the Woodville area.
About 1891, William M Morris died and by 1900, Josephene returned to Grayson
County.
Would anyone have any information about Woodville c. 1880-1890? Any information
on the old gravesite in the area?
Also, Bert's name is a mystery since his oldest brother was Albert L. Morris
[and very much alive]. We are rather certain that the Willis came from
the Burgess side [can trace it back to 1815] but cannot rule out the possibility
of another reason for the Bert Willis.
Any help appreciated!
