Hi,
I believe the newspapers that were in the county in the 1930s were The
Broken Bow News, and the McCurtain Daily Gazette, and there was one at
Valliant. If that happened in Smithville, I bet it was in the Broken
Bow News.
Before the 1930s there were several other newspapers. Millertown had
one, and there were two or three in Idabel.
I don't have access to the newspapers here they are all on microfilm
at the Idabel library, we have some on microfilm here, but I don't
have time to look through them.
At the genealogy department at Broken Bow Mr. Hickman has all of those
early newsppaers on microfilm.
Elaine who is on this list works there too.
They are very helpful.
I didn't see the orginal emai. But I think they are talking about the
McCurtain Gazette website.
It is at www.mccurtain.com
But the only archives on it so far is the Oklahoma bombing stories.
Thanks for the email.
