WASHINGTON ARMSTRONG "BANK" BIAS
PARENTS: Jesse Bias, Sr. and Rhoda BLOYD.
Do any of you have info on this line or might be able to do a lookup with the various spellings of the name? It is possible that his father Jesse lived with him until Jesse died. We find no record or possibility so far of either Jesse OR Washington Armstrong "Bank" Bias' death or burial. Hoping it might be found in Okmulgee Co. Any help appreciated. Here is more info if needed:
The spelling of his name has been shown BIAS and BIASS, BYAS, BYUS among others.
He has been shown as born 1825 in Hancock Co., IL, Floyd Co., KY AND Green Co., KY.
He came to Taney Co., MO with his father about 1835-1840 along with his brother Hiram and possibly Jesse, Jr.
1900 census shows his son, Gideon, reported he was born in KY as does other census records.
He may have moved to OK about 1900.
DIED: After 1910 in possibly Beggs, Okmulgee Co., OK
An Oklahoma obituary (his wife's I think) states the following, per a letter I received from Ruth TODD:
Nine children:
1. Sadie GRAHAM, Muskogee, OK (Correct spelling of this name is ZADA. This is his daughter with Catharine BASS)
2. Rachael JOHNSON, Monett, MO (Daughter with Catharine BASS)
3. Nora EVANS, Yale, OK (His daughter with Sarah/Mary Elizabeth GANN)
4. Nettie LYONS, Stillwell, OK (Ida Nettie "Pinkey", daughter with BASS)
5. Mason BYUS, Proctor, OK (Hiram Mason, son with BASS)
6. E. BYUS, Chandler, OK (Elijah?, son with GANN)
7. Lorenzo BYUS, Yale, OK (Child with GANN)
8. Jim BYUS, Alma, AR (Son with GANN)
9. Bark BYUS, Durant, OK (Should be BANK, son with GANN)
In the book, "Cherokee Old Timers" by James Mansford Carseloway, Armstrong Biass is listed as "a pioneer...born in KY". (Call # 976.6, Al, $45) Book found at Mesa, AZ Family History Center.
