Hi, I also have family buried in Rosedale cemetery in Ada, Okla.
I've been researching the CARSON & GRIFFIN families as they are kin to my
WARD family.
I have a good bit more info. that I'm more than happy to share and /or
exchange, including a few old photos.
Your great grandfather William T. Carson is the son of Mary "Elizabeth" WARD
& William J. or I. ("Ira") CARSON.
Mary "Elizabeth" Ward is the sister of my ggg grandfather Rev. William
Daniel Ward.
I've tried for sometime to find the burial location of William T. Carson's
mother, father, & step-father.
I do know that Mary "Elizabeth" WARD had 6 known children with her 1st
husband William J. or I. ("Ira") CARSON.
They married on 22 Dec 1864 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. I have a copy of
the marriage record I can send to you if you would like to have it.
I list the 6 children of Mary "Elizabeth" WARD & William J. or I. ("Ira")
CARSON as:
1.William T. Carson b. in MS m. Lillie May GRIFFIN (your great
grandparents)
2. Charles "Charlie" F. Carson b. MS( He never married & there is a Charlie
F. Carson listed in Alma Cemetery Stephens Co. Okla.)
3. A. R. Carson b. MS (female listed on 1870 Census Lafayette Co., MS.-I've
found no descendants at this time that remembers who she is.)
4. James "Jim" Benjamin CARSON b. MS m. Nora L. MARTIN (They are buried in
Duncan Municipal Cemetery in Duncan, Okla.)
5. Edward "Ed" Lee CARSON b. MS m. (1.) unknown doctors dau (2.) Nina
"Ninnie" Lee CLARK (3.) Mary Louise (MORAN) Izard
6. Jessie CARSON b. TX m. James "Jim" A. PHILLIPS (They are Duncan
Municipal Cemetery Duncan, Okla.)
Mary "Elizabeth" WARD was widowed according to family lore Bef. 1881 &
remarried a Robert McCormick abt. 1881 & she has two more children:
1. Dora Lou McCormick b. 05 May 1882 in Little Rock, Ark. m. Elbert "Ebb"
Newton GINN
2. Rev. Robert William McCormack b. 22 Mar 1884 IT Okla. m. Addie E. RAPER
Family lore states Mary "Elizabeth" (WARD) (CARSON) McCormick passed in
childbirth with her son Rev. Robert William McCormick.
Dora Lou (McCormick) Ginn's obit states she moved to Milburn, IT as a small
child. So I ponder if her mother passed in this area listed on her obit.
As Robert W. McCormick is listed as born in IT, Okla.
I very much would like to find out where my ggg grandfather Rev. William
Daniel Ward's sister Mary "Elizabeth" (WARD) (CARSON) McCormick is buried
as well as her two husbands William J. or I. ("Ira") CARSON & Robert
McCormick. If you don't know do you know of anyone who may?
I do know some GRIFFINS Married into the STEGALL family back in
Mississippi, one of Mary "Elizabeth" Ward's sisters Sarah Jane Ward m.
Columbus Ware STEGALL & GRIFFINS are married into the STEGALL family. Also a
GRIFFIN Child is shown to be Living with the WARD Family back in Mississippi
on census. I need to check my records further but I think a GRIFFIN also
who married in to Jesse (CARSON) PHILLIPS family.
Hope to hear from you, I'm also CCing: a cousin of our's Ms. Frankie
Randall, she is a descendant of Dr. Phillip Floyd ("Richard" or "Dick")
WARD, he is another sibling of Mary "Elizabeth" (WARD) (CARSON) McCormick
who has also worked on the CARSON & GRIFFIN & WARD - plus family history.
Best regards,
Rebecca Maner
