Zenetta , Hi . I have pulled up new info. that you may already be aware of. But here it is. Annie Mae Pitman, born, 7-28-1833 & died 2-8-1917, Married Leander Parish & Elijah H. Dunham. Her Parents were Comfort Hatfield , Born around 1808 in Ky, U.S.A. & died after 1870, & Daniel Pitman, Born 1803, in NC. U.S.A. & died between 1860-1870 . Comforts Parents were Annie Ross & James Hatfield . According to this new research Melvina Mourning Pitman , born 6-9-1849, & died 2-6-1906, Parents were Daniel Pitman & Comfort Hatfield, which would make her the sister of Annie Mae Pitman. Hope this helps some. As for any family rumors , I don"t believe it untill I see proof. Gena finially said that Papa Hicks told her that he & Uncle Will, did also live in barns ect... & I still do not believe any orfanage was ever involved. I do know that either way , regardless of any family past, that family is family, no matter what. It was really nice to hear from family members that I had lost cont!
act with. Also log on to the web, under Carol Keeton Strayhorn - State Comptroller. Put in Aunt Maudes' name, & the state owes her $250.00, that needs to be claimed by on of her heirs.
