PS it looks to me as though the right hand edge of the document has been cut off by the photocopier. I suspect that if we could see the whole document there would be a vertical line running down from the = to the right of 'Johannes Thornton fil: et haeres apparens', to the horizontal line above 4 year old Henry and his brother John, which would make them his sons.
