Thanks to all of you who enlightened me on the many uses of sleighs
(a.k.a. sleds a.k.a. sledges). Now, it makes perfect sense how my
family could make their living making sleighs in Tennessee in the
mid-1800's. Thank you all for sharing!

And to Robbie who asked about the blocks used for foundations, I grew
up in Southeast Missouri and all I have ever heard them called is
"cinder blocks".
