Hello!

A new lister, my O'LEARY family research interests begin with the
following details:

- Patrick O'LEARY [born 1866] married Mary Ann FLAVELL [born 1865] on
July 17, 1886 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; they moved to Rochester, New York.

- Patrick's parents were John and Margaret; no other information available.
- Mary Ann's parents were John FLAVELL & Anne née GILMORE, both of
townlands just north of Portadown in Co Armagh, Ireland. Considerable
research has been done to date on these two families. John & Anne were
married in March 1858 at the CofI parish church at Drumcree, and
emigrated to Toronto very soon afterward. John started up two grocery
stores (one on Elizabeth St) and at one time, ran a tavern. They
resided variously on Centre, Alice, and Elizabeth Streets and eventually
to Seaton Village (around the intersection of Bathurst & Bloor). In
addition to Mary Ann, their children included Samuel & Sarah (twins),
Henry, and John Thomas; the first three died in infancy, and we do not
know what happened to young John. Anne died of a cholera-type illness
in 1879. John remarried, to Anne's younger sister, Rachel. John &
Rachel's children included George (1880), Sade (1883), & Ethel (1885).
John died of pneumonia in 1888.

I've provided these details about the FLAVELL/GILMORE connection because
we are trying to trace the descendants of Patrick O'LEARY and Mary Ann
née FLAVELL. My grandmother (Ethel, above) used to visit her
half-sister, Mary Ann, in Rochester.

For your information and, hopefully, to make a connection!

Cheers,
Alison Causton
