Subject: Dumb question -- NOT SO DUMB BUT TIMELY.
Date: Wed, 10 Oct 2001 23:47:03 -0400
Will someone tell me what resources are available for searching families
beyond the 1901 census? How does one come farther forward in time
without later census records?
I am assuming that church and death records are your only help.
Something I may have missed?
I know at the present time you are having a battle with your legislature
there to get the later census records open but it really makes it hard
to get beyond the 1901 time period.

Hello Pat:-
This not a Dumb Question -- but a very good one! We do need the
Post-1901 Canadian Census records opened -- for all of us to peruse.
Not all church records are available for viewing -- e.g. Baptist ones
are "sealed" with other denominations also making their records only
available to their church members.
There are search offices, even on census records, but all these cost
about $45 for each individual search. I have given the address to
many -- but it costs $$$, as do birth and death certificates.
Rather than your question being DUMB, it SHOULD get genealogical
societies all working together, as Alberta did.
Senator Lorna Milne has Bill S-12 and Murray Calder has C-312,
but WE have to PROVE to the ones we elected or who were appointed
that WE honestly want to have the records released. Some have
not answered since March 1999 -- but I presume he/she drew the
increased pay since then -- some Senators do not seem to be
able to afford e-mail.
Check http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census
There are Scoreboards for both Members of Parliament and Senate,
Petition sites and much, much more. We need SIGNATURES!!!
Gather SIGNATURES now!!! My dream is receiving petitions from
each Ontario Genealogical Society, of which Lorna and Murray
are members. [One so far direct -- several via Alberta]
Thanks for the Not-So-Dumb Question,
