There still seems to be a fair bit of confusion over the areas that are being
covered in the book.
The boundaries have been changed a number of times, from the Newcastle
District, to Durham County to Durham Region.

From http://www.trentu.ca/library/archives/77-030.htm

"Newcastle District was created in 1802, and had been previously part of the
Home District. Newcastle District encompassed the present day counties of
Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, Victoria, and all land to the north. In
1838, the District was divided into the Newcastle and Colborne Districts. In
1849, the district system was abolished, and the Newcastle District became
known as Northumberland and Durham Counties in 1850, and Colborne District
became Peterborough County in 1850. From the land comprising Peterborough
County, Victoria County was created in 1852, and Haliburton County was
created in 1874. (Taken from: Hillman, Thomas A. "A Statutory Chronolgy of
Ontario: Counties and Municipalities." Gananoque: Langdale Press, 1988.)"

So anyone who has families that were once in any of the above may submit
their lines. Up to 1920 or until they moved out of the region , please state
where they moved to if known. I however cannot take on any other areas for
researching outside of Durham County. So any families from these areas will
have to be submitted by other individuals.
But if you would like to include your lines from the above areas please feel
free to. They will be included. Please go to
www.stephanieeddy.ca/durhamcountybook.htm

We'll just add "& Area" to the title. Again, this is going to be put out on
disc, printing it may be costly, the CD price may go up a little but all will
remain non-profit and anyone who contributes will have access to all
financial records.
I will however be printing a few books for those who would prefer it and for
two of my local libraries. I encourage others to donate them to their
libraries. 2 if possible so that one can be placed into circulation.

Again please let me know who you are going to submit so I can add it to our
list.
I need to remind everyone that anyone b. after 1900 without a death date will
not be included.

Please try to include as much info as you can, but please also be aware that
your submissions may be edited for length or content. However you will be
sent a copy of any changes for approval.

I need volunteers. Anyone who can check over files, place them into format
etc. Also I am looking for Manvers and Cavan Family submissions or anyone who
can research families in the area.
Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested.

Sincerely,
Stephanie
