Subject: THE TRUTH ABOUT HUGH
Date: Mon, 13 Jan 1997 15:48:37 -0500

We have just received a letter from Lord O'Neill of Shane's Castle today
and he corroborates the information we had posted about the date of
death of Brian and who his children were.

Brian's date of death is 1669 and he had two sons John and Henry.

This is a quote from Lord O'Neill's letter
"I think the easiest way of dealing with your query is to enclose a copy
of the relevant section of the Family Tree of the O'Neills of Shanes
Castle. From this, it would appear that the Hugh O'Neill to which you
refer was not part of the Main Line, but he may, of course, have lived
on the Estate without necessarily being closely related to the
immediate family."

He also suggest I could write to the Historical Foundation for more
information on Hugh because there were two fires and records were
destroyed.

Because of the events of the past on the Hugh issue, instead of posting
all the information to the group, and offending or annoying anyone, we
will make available a scanned copy of the letter and the information
that was attached to it to anyone who email us.

Now the mystery remains, who was Hugh and what is his lineage?

We are still awaiting two more responses from Ireland but our feeling is
they will only confirm what Lord O'Neill has told us of his family tree.
