Subject: [ONEALL-L] Transfering data

Hi list members,
There are probably several ways to transfer data between computers.
Transferring your Genealogy information and other information such as
word processor data, etc.
I've done it using several options depending on each application.
Word Processor types: The thing to remember, The new sys, may not be
compatible to the old sys. However, You can save the data from the old
sys to the new format on a floppy disk and then do the transfer.
Genealogy Software: I would recommend a new installation of the program
from its original CD and then just transfer the data via a backup or
copy option from the old sys.
E-mail address and Bookmarks: This is the neatest trick, Someone told me
about,( wish I could remember who) Write a msg to the person and CC to
yourself, when you open the msg on your new sys, Then just click on
their name and the add to address book will open chose ok and their
address is on your new sys. (note you can do several at once with the
cc)
Bookmarks, Same thing just e-mail it to yourself, click on the url,
then chose add bookmark.
As one of the other members said, I'm no computer expert, But these are
a few tricks I used.
Hope this helps,
Dennis O'Neal Arkansas
