Yes, there is mention of an Ernestus SLITER who was a widower and married Jemima RIPLEY in 1882. There is mention of Jemima's step-children from this marriage, but none by name. There is also an Alonzo SLITER who was an early teacher at the "Pimple" schoolhouse at Morton and who also taught at the DeLong school. It says he was a son of Leeds pioneer Hiel SLITER.
The History of Leeds & Grenville (publ 1879) has a lengthy article on recollections of Hiel SLITER, Esq. Says he was born in the state of Vermont on 13 JAN 1795 in the county of Rutland. And he also served in the War of 1812.
