Hi Margaret,

I decided to answer your email to the list in case there are other people interested in the information. The reason that I posted the request about Charles is that I am trying to straighten out (at least in my own mind) the relationship between the various O'Connors that settled in the area of Bastard, Lansdowne, and Kitley. They all seem to be related - somehow. Actually I am descended from one John O'Connor who settled in Lansdowne in 1816 and moved to Bastard Township in the 1820's then to South Burgess in about 1832 and eventually to Ottawa (probably in the late 1850's). John was a cabinet maker by trade but spent much of his adult life as a builder and then opened a grocery store when he moved to Ottawa. John was married to Mary Robertson. I am fairly confident that she was the daughter of John Robertson and Eleanor Fletcher of Delta and sister of Capt. William Robertson. The Robertson name is often written Robinson, Robison, Roberson or other variations in the records!
that I have seen. John and Mary O'Connor had the following children: John Robertson b. abt 1821; Owen Fletcher (my great great grandfather) b. abt 1826: Miriam b. abt 1829: Margaret Jane b. abt. 1832; William b. abt. 1833; Ellen b. abt 1834; Elizabeth b. abt 1837.

I don't know whether you can shed any light on the relationship between John and the other O'Connors but I would appreciate any information that you can give me.

Best wishes
Jon Canwell
