After the Revolutionary War, a lot of the soldiers took land in upper NY instead of a pension. A lot of my Pittsford, VT ancestors did just that...and then, some of them or their families...wandered over into Canada; Keelers, Lymans, etc.

Also, I have noticed other clusters who came from Rhode Island following the same migration path...i.e., the Sheldon's...my Hastings and others. It's interesting to see how clusters of families followed each other to the "new land".
