My great grand father was George McKenney and is buried in St. Philip Neri Cemetary. According to the 1871 Canadian Census ( Bastard & Burgess South, Leeds South, Ontario) was married to Maria Hart and his occupation was listed as farmer. They had 6 children, James, John, Mary (my grandmother), Catherine, Sarah, and Hannah. Maria's mother Catherine Hart was living with them. They lived in the vicinity of Portland and Westport. Mary and Theresa came to the US, to Syracuse, NY, soon after the father died and their surname spelling was changed to McKenna- reason unknown.
I would appreciate any information about the descendents of this family and will be happy to share the research I have done. Thank you.
