Johnathan Courtney late of Barnwell District died
intestate 1 Jun 1852, owning a plantation on Beaverdam Creek,
waters of South Edisto River, also a large number of slaves,
etc, His heirs-at-law were his widow Celia, and nine children:
Mrs Sarah Dyches, widow; Mrs Martha Gardiner, widow; John P
Courtney, Martin Courtney, Sophia Courtney, James Courtney
Elizabeth Walker, wife of Robin Walker, Vicy, wife of Manley
Johnson, Clarisa Whitlock, wife of Winfrey Whitlock; and four
grandchildren viz Martin Walker, John Walker, Elizabeth Corbett,
wife of Willis Corbett, and Anne Corbett wife of Robin Corbett,
children of a predeceased child Nancy Walker. Said Sarah Dyches
resides in Sumter Co, GA, Sophia Courtney is a person of unsound
