Richard Pendarvis "Tory Dick" was the son of Josiah Pendarvis and Elizabeth
Baker (daughter of Richard Baker and Mary Bohun). Richard was married to
Margaret Martinangelo who later became Mrs. Mongin. Richard killed the
leader of the Whigs (Doharity) at Bluffton, March 1779. Shortly thereafter,
nephews of Doharity killed Richard in his own front yard. John Mongin Sr.
and John Mongin Jr. were members of the "Bloody Legion" a banditti gang
under command of John Leacraft. John Leacraft is the person who killed
Richard Tory Dick Pendarvis.
Does anyone know how John Mongin (Jr and Sr.) were related to the Mongin
Richard's widow later married? I have often wondered if she married someone
who was directly related to her husbands murderers.
