Dear Tom,
Thank you for sharing your Atkinson material. As part of my Seigler
research I'm looking for John L. Atkinson bc 1785 SC who married Elizabeth
"Bettie" Seigler bc 1792 in Edgefield Co.SC. He is shown on DAR records as her
husband. I found them together in Edg.Co. in 1850 census p 103 with Dennis
Joseph Atkinson bc 1834. In 1823 her father gave Bettie Seigler land, cows, a
horse, and a bed . Her father is George Seigler bc 1763 in 96 Dist that became
Edg.Co. He lived in Barnwell Co SC.and dc 1842 in Edg Co. Both William Henry
Atkinson bc 1823 and Dennis Joseph Atkinson appear on the estate papers of
Bettie Seigler Atkinson's brother, David Seigler [ bc 1785 in Edg.Co] died in
Barnwell Co in 1860. William Henry Atkinson is m to Lucinda Seigler bc 1822,
daughter of Bettie Seigler Atkinson's brother, Daniel Seigler [bc1786 in Edg
Co] and Alsey Posey bc1790.
I would like to understand better how the Atkinsons and Seiglers are related.
I haven't been able to find an 1830 or 1840 census for John Atkinson that fit.
