First, let me thank everyone who has sent a message of sympathy and
condolence since I wrote of my loss. I have been overwhelmed at the
response! While that was not my purpose, it is certainly appreciated! Thank
you all very much! For those who had questions about family links, I will
get back to you individually as quickly as I can.

Next, I have a question, but first an explanation. In skimming through an
OGS Newsletter from 1986, that I borrowed from a friend, my eyes fell upon a
notice that "the John Berry collection" had been given to the Caroliniana
Library. Is anyone out there familiar with this material? Down in the body
of the notice, I read, "Fred's father was Abraham H. Syfrett the second
husband of Mary C. Berry. She married first John Murphy, third to J. Martin
Hiers. Mary b. 1815 d. 1864 was dau. of John Berry and Ann P.." This sounds
as though it is the John and Ann Platt Berry who were the parents of John
Platt Berry, Richard G. M. Berry, and several other children. Does anyone
know if this is correct? I would appreciate any information!
