Gay,
Thank you for your message regarding your ancestor Henry Weber.
I am not personally related to the Weber family but have an interest
(locally) in the family. The Weberite Heresy has been discussed in
more than one message by this group. Clayton Kleckley (my wife's
deceased cousin) wrote a detailed account in the Lexington Genealogical
Exchange, Vol. II, Bk. IV Spring 1983. As far as I know the article is
not on-line nor is the Lexington Genealogical Society as such. The
County has a page on USGenWeb; and, this list has many users
with an interest in the area and family relations to the Weber, Geiger,
ect. families (the reason I am forwarding your message to the group).
The Faust book (Swiss Emigrants) lists Henrick Weber, b. 6 Oct.
1715 and Jacob Weber b. 30 Dec 1725, brothers, emigrated
from Under-Rifferschweil, Zurich abt 1738/39. Jacob Weiber, John
Geiger, Jacob Burhart and Hannah Weiber were found guilty in the
"Weberite Heresy". In a letter written while he was imprisoned 16 Apr
1761, Jacob Weber stated that he was raised in the Reformed Church
and in the 14th year of his age journeyed with his brother to South
Carolina.
He was hanged when he was a little over 30 years old.
A number of early family members are listed in the Giessendanner book
of record, but I have been unable to connect the first two generations.
Can you share any info on these early generations?

Dear Gene,
I just join the Orangeburgh, SC mailing list.
I am researching my ancestor, Henry (Weiber, Weber,Weaver), according
to
research done by Brent Holcomb, he is older brother to Jacob Weber of
the
weberite heresy. I noticed you had one email concerning this in the
archives from 1997. The Jacob Weber confession is in The history of
Orangeburg County, SC by A.S. Salley, would you know if this or a
portion
of this book is online?? Also, does the Lexington Genealogical Exchange
have a website? Any information you can give me on this family or the
"weberite cult" will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Gay Wall
