1. William YOUNG was born in 1695. He died about 1737 in Orangeburgh,
South Carolina. From Holland? 1735-37. Settled on South Fork of
Edisto River. Gave an island in the river his name. Wid. Rebecca
Young granted 300 acres in 1737. 1738 April 12, married in presence of
English and German Witnesses, after three times publishing Banns and in
presence of the congregation of our Church, Christian Meyers, Johannes
Meyer's lawful son and Rebecca Young, William Young's daughter from
Holland, Johannes Meyers from Switzerland (Rev. Giessendanner) From
THE EXPANSION OF SOUTH CAROLINA by Robert L. Meriwether, p. 48 : "Prior
to 1749, when Minnick, along with Gavin Pou and William Youn g, who
appear in Gissendanner's register years before, applied for warrants,

William YOUNG was married to Rebecca YOUNG. Rebecca YOUNG died after
1792 in South Carolina. William YOUNG and Rebecca YOUNG had the

presence of English and German Witneses, after three times publishing
Banns and in presence of the congregation of our Church, Christian
Meyers, Johannes Meyer's lawful son and Rebecca Young, William Young's
daughter from Holland, Johannes Meyers from Switzerland (Rev.
Giessendanner) [Dr. Julian Dantzler Kelly interprets "William Young's
daughter from Holland" to be from "Schottland", the German word for

Rebecca YOUNG was married to Christian MYERS on 12 Apr 1738 in
Orangeburgh, South Carolina. Christian MYERS was born in Pratteln,
Basel, Switzerland. 1738 April 12, married in presence of English and
German Witneses, after three times publishing Banns and in presence of
the congregation of our Church, Christian Meyers, Johannes Meyer's
lawful son and Rebecca Young, William Young's daughter from Holland,
Johannes Meyers from Switzerland (Rev. Giessendanner)

12. Mary YOUNG was born about 1728. She died before 7 Jul 1775 in St.
Bartholomew, South Carolina. 1757 On Sunday March 6th in Orangeburgh
Church. Anne Elizabeth daughter of Martin and Susannah Sally; born
19th January 1757. Suret: John Sally, Mary wife of Luke Patrick and

Churchyard of Orangeburgh the Body of Evan Reece, a Settler on the
North Side of Congree River who died at the House of Luke Patrick in
Orangeburgh Tuesday Novr 30th then being on his Journey to Georgia.

appraisers: W. Young, Henry Felder, Nicholas Shoular. Estate of Mary
Patrick of St. Bartholomew's 12 Aug . 1775 (indexed as Luke Patrick).
South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Mag. pg.44 "Citation granted
to Mary Patrick to administer on the estate and effects of Luke Patrick
late of St. George's Parish, planter, being his widow and nearest of
kin. To be read in the parish CHH of St. George and returned
Certified. Granted 20th July 1771." "Same day Mary Patrick qualified
adm of the estate and effects of Luke Patrick her late husband." Mary
YOUNG and Luke PATRICK had the following children:

125. Lewis PATRICK was born on 2 May 1755 in Orangeburgh, South
Carolina. He was christened on 1 Jun 1755 in Orangeburgh, South
Carolina. He died on 19 Sep 1756 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina. He
was buried on 20 Sep 1756 in Churchyard, Orangeburgh, South Carolina.
1755 On Sunday June 1st in Orangeburgh Church. Lewis, son of Luke and
Mary Partick; born May 2d 1755. Suscept. Michalel Christopher Rowe,
Brand and Sertina Pendarvis. (Rev.Giessendanner) 1756 On Monday Septr
19th died and on Tuesday Septr 20th was Enterred in the Chruch yard of
Orangeburgh the Body of Lewis son of Luke and Mary Patrick of

133. Thomas YOUNG (SR) was born on 13 Apr 1759 in Orangeburgh, South
Carolina. He died about 1810. 1759 On Monday June 4 in Orangeburg.

134. Ann Elizabeth YOUNG was born in Orangeburg District, South
Carolina. Isaac and Nancy (Young) Carter moved (with most of their
children) west to MS and LA in the spring of 1810. The 1800 Orangeburg
census shows them living in the area bound by the Fork of the Edisto,
Beaver Cree and Four Holes. They are also on the 1790 census. Thomas
Young who lived near them is thought to be Nancy's brother (also on the
1790 census).

Record: "William Young was born Oct. 6, 1735; Mary Linder was born
Mar. 6, 1738, was married together Thursday, July 2, 1752; William
Young, son to William and Mary Y., was born Saturday, May the 19th, 1
755; and Mary, their daughter, was born Wednesday, November the 3rd,
1756, 9 o 'clock in the morning; Rebecca, their daughter, was born June
29, 1759, 2 o'clock in the afternoon; Elizabeth, their daughter, was
born Saturday, July 14 , 1764." From The South Carolina Gazette 1760,
p.20, see reference to William Young - lived 13 miles below Orangeburg
on the road that leads to Charlestown.
