I'm a descendant of Rebeccah Joyner, b. 19 Dec 1787, probably (but
not proven) the daughter of Isham or Isom Joyner and Elizabeth
Westcott, m. Hamilton Hart.
I have had 23andMe run their full range of SNP's, and have a match in
one DNA segment with a proven descendant of the Joyners of
Southampton Co VA. With this kind of test, there is no definite way
to link the matching segments to particular lineages, but the Joyner
surname is the only one that we know of in common, and both of us
have pretty extensive genealogical records.
I have three children listed for Thomas and Faithy or Faithful:
1 Thomas Joyner
Father: John Joyner
Thomas JOYNER was born about 1720. He died about 1762. He was
married to Faithful CARSE (daughter of Roger CASE) on 3 Feb 1740 in
Amelia Township, Orangeburgh, South Carolina. 1740 married Thomas
Joyner and Faithy Carse in Amelia. (Rev. Giessendanner) 1752 On
Monday July 13th In Amelia at the House of William Martin. Samuel,
son of Thomas and Faithful Joyner born January 13th 1752. Susceptr .
John Gardner, James Case, Agnes Joyner. (Rev. Giessendanner) 1752 On
Monday July 13th In Amelia at the House of William Martin. Elizabeth,
daughter of Thomas and Faithful Joyner; born Septr. 17th 1749.
Susceptr. James Case, Agnes Joyner, Elizabeth Francis. (Rev.
Spouse: Faithful (Faithy) Carse
Birth: ca 1725
Children: Isham (Isom)
The identification of John Joyner as father of Thomas is based upon
early references in SCDAH documents to property owned by a John
Joyner in the same area where Thomas Joyner later appears:
