Dear Dennis,
If it was published in the Astorian you can get a copy by sending a
donation and a request to the Astoria Public Library, in a self stamped
envelope. They archive all old newspapers and store them in the
basement. They are short funded and short staffed, so have little time,
but will help if someone sends a little money to help cover their time.
You can also get death certificates thru the Oregon State Archives and/or
search for records here at their search engine.

I put in the name Halsan, nothing else. It brought up all my relatives.
It shows at the right side the numbers of the records, needed for ordering.
It says"contact us for copies of the records"
To do so,
Oregon State Archives
800 Summer St. NE
Salem, OR 97310
Phone: 503-373-0701
Fax: 503-373-0953
Hours: 8 AM to 12 noon and 1 PM to 4:45 PM, Monday-Friday except state
holidays.
To contact the Astoria Library,
Astoria Public Library
450 10th St. Astoria Oregon 97103
325 7323 area code 503
To find date of death and cert# go to the LDS Family Search site and put
your persons name in the Social securty search engine at (put all of
address in seac engine, or double click here.
