Hi,
<<Eugene Edgar Melvin lived in south Coos Bay, Oregon.
>I believe him and his wife and a daughter (Doris & Charles Ross)
>lived in the Coos Bay area and Son (John >>
Eugene & family were in Oakland, Alameda, CA in 1930 ED 1-32 SH16A pg 172.
He is listed as Eugene E, 46 yrs, born Maryland; Emma E is 42, born Illinois;
John is 18, born Oregon; Doris, 16, born Oregon; Douglas & Charles, both 11,
born Oregon.
In 1920, the family was in Sylvan, Multnomah, Oregon on Canyon Rd near Hewett
Blvd.: "Edgar" was 35, Emma is 31; Robert, 12; Doris, 9; Charles & Douglas 1
9/12. Birthplaces same as 1930.
In both of the above censuses, Eugene Edgar was said to be born in Maryland,
his father born in Maryland and his mother in Iowa.
In looking for Eugene & Emma in the 1910 census (which I haven't located in
Oregon), I find an Edgar N Melvin, 51 or 57, divorced, born Maryland as were
parents, living in Five River Pct., Lane Co., OR. Living with him is George A
Melvin, 20 years, born Oregon; father born in Maryland and mother born in Iowa.
Looks like this "could" be Eugene's father & brother.
In 1900, Edgar N. Melvin & family are in Sylvan Pct 77, Multnomah, Portland,
pg 240. Edgar N is 41, born Oct 1859 in Maryland; Allice D, born Sept 1861 in
Iowa; Elizabeth, Mar 1888 Iowa; and George born Mar 1890 in OR. On the same
page, next to the bottom row is Eugene, born June 1884 in Maryland, he is a
hired hand.
Hopefully some of this is new to you.
