Subject: Wonderful GFO experience awaits you!
Date: Mon, 9 Jan 2006 14:02:25 -0800
What an exciting opportunity for the GFO!
Carol Berkley, middle school teacher and GFO member, will be bringing her
8th grade class for a field trip and unique interactive experience at the
Forum on Thursday, February 9 from 2:00-3:30 PM & Friday, February 10
from 10:30-12:45. We are looking for volunteers to help and work with
the students in one of the five established stations. These stations
will consist of looking at marriage records, using microfilm, reviewing
maps, checking out the Kentucky and Oregon areas of the library, and
having adults listen to the stories that they have written. The students
may not get through all of the stations; the intent is for them to
experience at least some of what the library has to offer.
If you can help with this project, please contact Michele Fricke at
503-312-0808 or . We will meet one hour before
the students arrive for an orientation. Materials will be prepared for
each station so the volunteers will understand what is asked of them.
This should be lots of fun - and what a wonderful impact we can have on
some students who may grow up to be researchers and/or genealogists!
Details of the project are outlined in the January Insider or you can
contact Michele.
To be successful, we will need sufficient volunteers. Please step
forward!
