Hi y'all,
I have been on the phone for quite a while this
morning getting transferred round and round and round.
Someone told me that I need to get a Power of Attorney
to be able to get my father's records. After I hunbg
up I thought, hey, wait a minute. A Power of Attorney
is for someone who is still alive. My father died in
1979.
I finally got through to the Family Law section of
the Mult Co Court House downtown Portland, and to the
office in charge of Mental Commitments. I was told by
them that a number of papers would have to be drafted
authorizing me to have my father's records. She said
that it would almost surely require a Lawyer to do
this unless I had some legal expertise of my own which
I do not.
So, my next step will be to talk to a Lawyer about
this. If it is going to cost very much I am just not
going to be able to do it.
I called the Health Dept and they had no clue. The
Mult Co Court told me that they have no guideline to
give people to tell them how to go about it and say
you will need a Lawyer.
Nathan
