Subject: [ORIGINAL-13] QUAKER MARRIAGES

Hello Folks,
In regards to the Quaker marriage records I recently posted it should be
noted that the marriage date is not necessarily recorded in the minutes.
Thus, many times a secondary source (family history book) will note a
couple's marriage date as 7th 7m '77, when in fact the marriage was held
1st 7m '77 and then recorded in the minutes dated 7th 7m '77. Or it was
recorded that the couple was "left to accomplish" their marriage which
then may have been 10th 7m '77. For more info on such things (I'm just
learning all this myself), your public library is a good place to start
and here is one of many websites:

The Quaker Corner

Scroll down left side menu and click on "Reference Material"

Scroll down ride side frame and click on "Customs Quaker Marriages"

Regards, Joan
