Edwin Wilson and Elsie B. Stokes, both of Klamath Agency, secured a
marriage license Tuesday.

Avery Stokes passed away at the Klamath Agency on Friday evening, Jan. 15.
The deceased was a native of the Klamath Reservation and was aged 28 years
when called. He is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Francis Smith of Beatty,
Katherine Stokes of California and Mrs Dinah Cress of Chiloquin;
grandmother, Mrs. Esther Stokes of Chiloquin.

The funeral service for the late Avery Lawrence Stokes will take place
from the Williamson River Church on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., the Rev.
A.J. Neufeld officiating. Commitment service and interment will be in the
family plot in the Hill Cemetery.

Esther Stokes, born on the Klamath Reservation many years before the first
white men set foot in this country, died at her home in Chiloquin Wednesday,
Oct. 30. According to official records Mrs. Stokes was 104 years of age at
the time of her death. Mrs. Stokes' husband, Charles, died in 1918 during
the flu epidemic. He was an honored member of the early Indian councils and
prominent in tribal affairs during the years the white men and the Indian
arranged boundary lines and made settlements.

Methodist Church at Williamson River on Saturday, Nov. 2, 1940 at 1:30 p.m.,
the Rev. L.W. Mooney officiating. The commitment service and interment will
be made in the family plot in the Hill Cemetery.
