Klamath Star
June 20, 1895
John Gleim, a prosperous farmer and stockman of Klamath Falls precinct,
died of dysponae, or difficult breathing, Saturday night last. The autopsy,
by Dr. Wright, ascertained the direct cause of death to have been a quantity
of fat which had separated from the walls of the left ventricle of the heart
and fastened to the semi-lunar valve, producing instantaneous death, and the
coroner's jury rendered their verdict accordingly. The hired man, whose name
is Justice, was wakened by a fall downstairs some where during the night,
and next morning found John Gleim lying upon the floor, face up, with his
head toward the fireplace. Mr. Gleim was a German, who came here 25 years
ago an almost pennyless young man, and by his own brave efforts amassed
wealth. He leaves about 20,000 worth of property encumbered with some $8,000
liabilities. He has a brother in California. He wrote a will some time ago
appointing Mr. James Tobin administrator of his estate.
